In the serenity of the North Texas country, 6 miles NNE of Alvord, in Wise County, Texas, The Polock Pines Outdoor and Equestrian Experience is located just 55 miles from downtown Fort Worth and 70 miles from downtown Dallas and offers a unique getaway close to home. Centrally located near the heart of the LBJ National Grasslands, you can camp in one of our 9 campsites with water and electricity, and stable your horse in one of the three available pens. Then get ready to explore the LBJ grasslands at your leisure.

The LBJ Grasslands are some 20,000+ acres of public land with hunting, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding all common activities. Polock Pines is located 'at the gate' of 75 miles of Equestrian and hiking trails that wind throughout the Grasslands. It would take several trips, indeed, to cover all the trails.

The Grasslands also play host to Extreme trail riding competitions.

Pony Express gate onto the Orange Trail System

Polock Pines is located near the center of the LBJ Grasslands and is immediately adjacent to the Pony Express 1 and 2 and Road Runner gates into units 15 and 27 off County Road 2690.

Our location allows you to leave your campsite and enter directly onto the "Orange' trail system (also known as the 'silver' trail).

The remote location, accessible within 1/4 mile on paved roads, makes Polock Pines a great alternative to the often crowded and noisy public campgrounds.

Roomy campsites!

Treed, large, long sites for your weekender RV with plenty of space to tether your horse, set up camp, have a campfire, and still maintain a sense of privacy. Several of our campsites are VERY private, and three sites are large enough to accommodate a three- RV campsite.

Sit around the campfire, relax and tell stories of the adventures of the day. It's easy to relax in the quiet surroundings and get ready for the next days ride or hike.

Plenty of room!

Our large campsites give you big spaces to set up your portable pens without crowding.

Tethering of horses is also allowed provided you place stops on your picket line to prevent your animals from chewing the bark from the trees.

Come on out. Make yourself at home.

The LBJ Grasslands Equestrian Trail system is an improved trail system and not just a cow path across the pasture.

Well marked and maintained, the trails offer varied types of riding from novice to challenging, beginning just a few feet away from your campsite.

Although much of the system is wide open, you will find yourself from time to time on tight, narrow trails traversing the thick wooded areas common in the Cross-timbers region of Texas.

Polock Pines' LBJ Grasslands Fall CTC
October 23rd

Benifitting ThrowAwayPonies.org, , a Competitive Trail Challange sanctiond by The American Competitive Trail Horse Association, or ACTHA, is planned for October 23rd. Hosted at Polock Pines, this event is open to all riders regardless ability and will include open, pleasure, and junior divisions (age 7-15). The competition involves about 6 miles of trail riding with 6 judged obstacles. Unlike timed endurance rides, this competition involves points based on horse and rider's ability to navigate the obstacles.
Prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the top finishers in each class, and the open division will include a money added cash jackpot. Several other fun events will be included, all at the Polock Pines Outdoor and Equestrian Experience. Space is limited, so if you want a site for you or your group, make your reservations early as the sites with water and electricity will likely sell out early. Plenty of primitive camping will be available.

We encourage you to visit www.ACTHA.us to see additional information on ACTHA, it's charities, more about the events, and to become a member. YOU MUST BE AN ACTHA MEMBER TO COMPETE.
